Bomb Pops: Synopsis
What did you want to be when you grew up? An astronaut? Hank Aaron? The President? Whatever it was, your dream changed daily, and the path you eventually chose barely resembles those childhood fantasies.
You should hope so, anyway.
Meet Freeze, who should have been more careful what he wished for. Freeze drives an ice cream truck, which at age 18 seemed cute. Now, with the big Three-Oh approaching it seems deeply pathetic. But with no idea of what else to do with his life, Freeze makes the best of it. Besides, he has friends at the garage. He’s the leader, the entertainer. His endless jokes and stories are legend.
When the boss decides to close up shop, Freeze panics. With a desperation disguised as finding his mission in life, he decides to buy his truck. Now, to come up with the money!
With a determination he never knew he had, he takes every odd job he can find. Slowly the money trickles in. Then, to completely distract him, SHE shows up. Erin, his long-lost high-school crush, has come down in the world…all the way to his league.
A tentative romance ensues. Suddenly this dubious quest seems to have purpose: he will show Erin how normal he can be. He will win her heart and, to her son, become the father Freeze never had. Now, getting the money is that much more desperately important. And he will risk it all by trying the quick-and illegal-route.
Bomb Pops is a sweetly comic tale about that moment when you realize everything you know is wrong. It is about holding on to the past, and letting go. It is about finding a dream worth chasing, then discovering your REAL dream along the way.
