“It takes only five seconds to do, but 30 seconds to describe!?”
In a past life as a video producer/director in the marketing communications department of a major health care manufacturer, I hurled so many scripts in frustration that I tore a rotator cuff. Well, not really, but that’s the kind of vivid language you’re paying for!
Anyway, script writing is tricky, and it can frustrate even the smartest marketing managers who know their products inside and out. Not to mention the director who has to shoot 20 pages today.
So I put my 15 years of experience as a producer, director and editor of industrial video into each script I write. Whether you ask me to direct the final product or not (you should!) the script will be written for efficient blocking, shooting and editing.
